We will need to know about your lifestyle: a history of glasses and contact lens wear, the physical activities you participate in, your experiences and limitations with glasses and contact lenses; how you expect your life to change after the LASIK procedure. We will discuss expected results with you and answer any questions you may have about your eyes, LASIK, IntraLASIK or other corrective laser procedures. Dr. Boothe will need to know if you've had any prior surgical procedures on your eyes, what type they were and when they were performed.
To confirm the exact refractive error in your eyes, both Dr. Boothe and a technician will examine your eyes. The technician and Dr. Boothe will refract each of your eyes in an un-dilated state.
The surface of your eyes will be mapped with corneal topography equipment. The corneal topography equipment measures the contour of your cornea. This information is valuable in performing the LASIK or intraLASIK procedure. Corneal pachymetry is done to measure the thickness of the cornea.
Every day when surgical procedures are scheduled, Dr. Boothe personally calibrates the Allegretto Wavelight Eye-Q and the VISX Star© S4 excimer lasers before the first patient arrives. He continuously re-calibrates the equipment throughout the day to ensure its accuracy.
On the day of your surgery, you should arrive about half an hour before your appointment. Dress comfortably.
You may notice that your vision will be a little blurry immediately following your LASIK or IntraLASIK procedure. This bluriness will gradually clear in the next few hours. We suggest that someone drive you home so that you may relax for a while. Once you arrive home, it is preferable that you stay awake and continuously put in artificial tears to keep your eyes moist.
You may watch TV or read as long as you continue to wet them frequently every five to ten minutes. It is important to avoid wind or any type of air turbulence that would cause your eyes to dry out.
Dr. Boothe believes that following up with each patient is an integral part of the LASIK and IntraLASIK process. He wants your vision to be the best it can possibly be. In most cases this means 20/25 or better.

"Dr. Boothe made a great impression on me... he made me feel important. WaveFront Customized IntraLASIK has helped me so much I was out on the lake and I didn't have to worry about my contacts getting knocked out of my eyes or not having my glasses. I would recommend Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center to anyone who is thinking about having this done."
